This post is with regard to the following question posted by a member,
Mr.prasant, nse gives data immediately after close of market .But it would be very glad if data is uploaded soon after recieved by u from nse. thank u -
First of all, NSE and BSE do not provide data right after close of market. While BSE provides data to its vendors around 17:15 - 17:30, NSE provides provisional closing data at around 17:45.
Unfortunately, we just do not provide the same to members here. We also include the Open Interest which is the bigger problem. While NSE & BSE releases this around the same time, many a time this is delayed. In-fact I have waited many a time till nearly 18:30 for one of the files to be released before I can go ahead with creating the data.
Of course, While my intention is to provide the data file as soon as possible, since I have to be back home before I create the data, some times due to personal work, I get held back (like yesterday ) and data is uploaded bit late. I apologize for that and hence to over come the problem, we at DTM are working on Automating the whole process so that as soon as the exchanges provide us with the files, our system can go ahead and create the necessary files without any delay.
We did Automate for IEOD, but some problem has come up which means that its now being uploaded manually until the problem (which has been identified) is resolved. This is because, unlike Manual where I do check the files before uploading, once Automated, wrong data can easily creep in and wreck the whole database.
For example a few guys provide what is called a a Integrated Down-loader cum amibroker updater where it directly downloads and updates from the net for EOD data where the data is pretty much what we provide here. While it can be good, the problem is that if there is a error, you may not even know it and hence have data that is wrong and hence invalid for any useful analysis.
If you look at the chat box archives, you shall find that on a few days, I have after providing data recognized a error in the data and requested members to download once again since there was something amiss in the file which was provided earlier.
Our endeavor here is to provide quality data in time. That does not take away the fact that on some days, data is pretty late. Please be assured that we know the issue and will be able to overcome that in the coming few weeks.
